An amazing event for Women’s Health Week
We’re excited to share an event that we’ve been quietly and carefully putting together for Women’s Health Week this September.
The event is called ‘What Keeps Us Going’. It’s a gentle, inspiring panel conversation with women who’ve walked big, brave paths in advocacy, health, law, leadership, and community. I’ve worked hard to put this event on because I’ve watched what happens to those who walk this path more times than I can count.
I’ve watched brilliant, passionate women stand up for their families, their communities and their colleagues to speak out, pushing back or stepping in. Sometimes for a cause, sometimes for their children, sometimes just to say “this isn’t right.” And too often, I’ve seen what happens next.
They burn out.
They become exhausted.
They carry the weight for too long, too quietly, and without enough support.
I’ll admit that I’ve felt it myself.
That’s why I’ve worked hard to bring this event to life.
The event is called What Keeps Us Going? to ask a question rarely asked: Who is supporting the advocator? Who is holding space for the women who hold everything else?
This isn’t a rally, or a campaign, or a celebration of “resilience” in the way it’s often thrown around but something more grounded, more necessary.
It’s about recognising the toll. About talking honestly about what it costs to keep going when you’re carrying more than your share and it’s about what we need to put in place emotionally, practically and culturally, to stop losing good people to burnout and breakdown.
We’re bringing together some incredible women. Some have shared their stories as survivors. Others have worked behind the scenes to make systems fairer and kinder. All of them bring wisdom that speaks to the heart of what it means to care, persist, and still find space for yourself. You’re likely to know their names and we are honoured to share that Rosie Batty AO, Dr Janine Mohamed and Tanja Kovac are joining us in this conversation.
This panel isn’t about re-telling trauma or presenting perfect answers. It’s about making space for the in-between, the messy middle, the part where we stop, reflect, and ask what care really looks like when you’re the one who’s been doing the caring.
We’re inviting you to join us not just for the conversation, but for the sense of connection and care we hope to create in the room. A moment to exhale, be nourished, and be reminded that you’re not alone in the juggle.
This is a ticketed event with a small ticket price but will include a meal using products indigenous to our area, in addition to hearing from these amazing individuals.
We’d truly love to share this with you.
