FAQs

This is the first event of it’s kind (we think) so there are bound to be questions. Here are answers to some.

  • The checklist time is essentially time for you to audit your list health checks with the guidance of healthcare professionals. Not had time to even consider which ‘well person’ checks you’ve let lapsed? This 15 minutes is the time you’ll need to go through the Jean Haile’s list and note down which checks you’ve missed to talk to your Dr about to get your health plan back on track.

  • Every half an hour one of our healthcare professionals will be doing a casual Q&A session in their area of expertise. As the event draws closer we will announce who will be speaking when and the topics they will be covering.

Depending on the event we will also hold activities that run in conjunction with the Check Me Out event. These will also change depending on the venue location. Stay tuned, following the Facebook events pages and we will update these as soon as we can.

  • We are so grateful to local charity Pinchapoo for donating pamper packs to every person completing their checklist.

Pamper packs have a variety of full size items including, sunscreen, doTERRA masks and handwash, ‘The Ordinary’ skincare items and cosmetics.

  • As there will be additional healthcare professionals outside to talk to, information sessions, catering, hikes, forest bathing, besides your booked time you can stay as long as you like. These events are as much about you looking caring for yourself as they are about making new connections, meeting other mums.

If you are bringing your children, we ask that you arrive 20 minutes so you have time to meet your child minder.

  • Our child minding services* are being run by qualified career nannies through local business Event Nannies. It is essential that your book your place to ensure we have a nanny for your children.

*Our Monbulk and Yarra Junction events are being held at the recreational centres with a pre-existing creche. At these two events, qualified creche staff already employed by each centre will be childminding in the creche area.

The childminding service is only available while you are completing your checklist. As we are likely to have many mums coming through with their children you won’t be able to leave your children with the childminders for the other activities. Doing so, may overburden our childminders.

  • Seeing your doctor is great! That’s exactly the outcome we are hoping to achieve.

These checks won’t replace a visit to your Dr. Your completed checklist will arm you with the knowledge of what tests you’ve not had done for a while. With your health ‘to-do’ list, you can visit your Dr and say, can we talk about X, Y, and Z checks? It’s been X years since I’ve had them done, maybe it’s time to check?

Research has shown that basic routine checkups - the 'well person' checks have dropped. We're only attending if we're sick. COVID lockdowns and the shortage of appointments have stopped many routine checkups too. Maybe we’re choosing to spend money on getting the kids checked and forgoing checks ourselves. Maybe we don't have the time to think about our health. Whatever the reason, the outcome is a lot of people not getting themselves checked out.

So the Check Me Out roadshow will arm you with knowledge and motivation to talk to your Dr about.

  • Definitely not. You have developed a relationship with your doctor. Only you and your doctor should know your own personal health status and medical details.

  • Firstly, sorry to hear you’re feeling unwell. We won’t be able to help you at these events. We won’t be having 1 on 1 consultations at this event. You also won’t be explaining your personal medical information or situation. We feel this is something that only you and your Dr should know.

If you’re feeling unwell, please contact your Dr. I hope you feel better soon.

  • Of course. We’ll be putting a downloadable checklist up shortly. The only difference is that you won’t have healthcare professionals on hand to answer questions (the kids might create a little challenge too).
