Counselling

Counselling support service is available through Victorian Council of Churches. For further information please visit https://www.vccem.org.au/floods

Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements

The joint Australian, state and territory government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) provide a range of financial assistance to the natural disaster-declared areas in each state or territory. The money can also be used to cover accommodation, cleanup, home repairs, reconnecting services and rebuilding or replacing around the home.

For information on available recovery assistance, visit the VIC Emergency website.

Donations

GIVIT, in partnership with the Victorian Government, is urging people not to send unrequested goods to communities affected by the storms and resulting floods. Instead, please utilise the official partnership in place between the Victorian Government and GIVIT to manage and coordinate donations (goods and services) for this recovery.

Please direct all donations to www.givit.org.au. GIVIT captures all donation offers (including goods, services, time and money) online, removing the need for impacted communities to receive, sort, store and dispose of donations they don’t need.

100% of donated money received by GIVIT is used to purchase exactly what’s needed by people impacted. We buy locally, wherever possible, to support local businesses and the economic recovery of affected communities. GIVIT’s operational costs are covered by government contracts and corporate partners.

I now have the request form for those who are in need of assistance. If you have been affected, please contact me and together we can fill the form out and get it to the Yarra Ranges SC. They are registered with GIVIT and will be able to connect donations with those who need it most.

Requesting a donation

Community members can request specific items, such as food or vouchers for shopping, which can then be supplied by donors.

If you're struggling and in need of donations, please drop us an email at emergencymanagement@yarraranges.vic.gov.au and we'll try to help out.

We know there are still many community members without power and internet service, so we'll have forms available at our Power & Shower relief centres at Lilydale Heights Secondary College, Yarra Junction Sporting Pavilion, Yarra Glen Memorial Hall and the Belgrave Community Hub (all sites are open 8am-8pm today and Sunday - bring toiletries, towels and chargers if you need shower/charging facilities)

Making a donation (money or goods)

Anyone wanting to offer goods or money for donations can do so through GIVIT's website.
