MOTHS NDIS Forum

The Australian Government has introduced the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026. The Government says these changes are intended to strengthen the long-term sustainability of the NDIS while ensuring it continues to support people with permanent and significant disability into the future. The proposed reforms include changes to eligibility requirements, assessment processes and the evidence required to access the Scheme. As with any significant reform, there are differing views about what these changes may mean in practice.

A number of disability advocacy organisations have expressed concern that some groups may be disproportionately affected. Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA), for example, has raised concerns that women could be among those hardest hit by the proposed changes. Women are often diagnosed later, may experience barriers accessing disability supports, and are frequently the primary carers for children with disability. For many families, any reduction in supports has the potential to affect not only the person with disability, but also carers, employment, family finances and wellbeing.

Mums of the Hills has been invited to host a community forum with the office of Federal MP Aaron Violi to discuss these proposed reforms. While places at the forum are limited, we recognise that many people who are directly affected may be unable to attend.

This form provides an opportunity for you to share your experiences, concerns and suggestions so they can help inform the discussion. We know every family's situation is unique, and we won't be able to raise every individual circumstance. Instead, we will identify the common themes and key issues emerging from our community and ensure they are represented at the forum. Whether you are an NDIS participant, a parent, carer, family member, or someone concerned about the potential impacts of these changes, we encourage you to share your perspective.

Thank you for taking the time to contribute. Your lived experience will help ensure local voices are heard.
