Insurance Health Check

Are you covered when it counts?

  • Location: ONLINE

  • Date: Wednesday 12th November

  • Time: 6pm-7:30pm

Disasters don’t wait for a season anymore. From storms and floods to fires and strong winds, we’re facing unpredictable weather events all year round, which means it’s vital to understand what your insurance really covers.

Join Eastern Community Legal Centre and Mums of the Hills for a free online community event that will help you:

  • Check that your policy is up to date and your sum insured reflects current rebuilding costs.

  • Understand common exclusions that can leave you unprotected.

  • Learn how to prevent legal and financial problems before they happen.

  • Reduce the risk of your insurance claim being denied after a disaster.

This is an open session for everyone in our community — homeowners, renters, and anyone wanting to be better prepared.

Stay online after the presentation for an informal Q&A, where you can ask our facilitators your more specific insurance questions.

Knowledge is the best insurance of all.  Join us and make sure you’re covered when it counts.

  • Ebony’s role at Eastern Community Legal Centre is Community Engagement Lead – Disaster Recovery and Climate Justice. This role involves working closely with communities at risk of climate change and disasters, particularly around the Yarra Ranges area.

Ebony isn’t a lawyer, but it is likely that a member of her community law team will be joining her. Her background is in Community Development, Emergency and Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance, where she has worked internationally on a range community resilience initiatives.

Eastern Community Legal Centre has offices across Melbourne’s East where they offer free legal advice. If ECLC isn’t able to assist with your enquiry, they will connect you with another specialist CLC or community organisation who will be able to assist you there.
